NOMOS Ludwig 175 Years Watchmaking Glashütte Collection

The NOMOS Ludwig 175 Years Watchmaking Glashütte Collection celebrates a milestone in Saxony watchmaking traditions, with a trio of traditionally styled limited edition timepieces.

In a portfolio abound with minimalism, the NOMOS Ludwig watch is the most classically styled of all their models.  Renowned for its flat-dialled purity, and wisp-like Roman numerals, it is a watch for all occasions and one which its wearer will never tire of wearing.

Now, in honour of the 175th anniversary of watchmaking in the Glashütte region, three new Ludwig models have been created to celebrate the hoopla year, albeit in synonymous understated manner.  And, best of all there is one to suit everyone.

For these new pieces, NOMOS have leaned towards traditional pocket watch styling – an aesthetic which lends itself perfectly to the broad flatness of the Ludwig.  Each model carries an enamel white dial and, by shunning the no-nonsense pencil straight hands of the collection, and replacing them with blued leaf-formed hands, the historical reference point of these anniversary pieces is reinforced.

First up, the NOMOS Ludwig - 175 Years Watchmaking Glashütte watch, which is sized at 35mm across.    This manual-wind model is powered by the Alpha Calibre which is equipped with a power reserve of 43 hours.  The dial of the piece carries no superfluous features, just perfectly proportioned Roman numerals, a traditional railroad track scale for the minutes and a slightly recessed small seconds at 6 o’clock.  Resting just 6.8mm high on the wrist this is a watch for anyone, and for any occasion.

Just a smidge larger, at 38.5mm x 7.0mm the NOMOS Ludwig Neomatik 39 – 175 Years Watchmaking Glashütte is powered by the automatic DUW 3001 ultra-thin calibre (at 3.2mm high), which enables a power reserve lasting for 43 hours.  Retaining the features and the exemplary proportions of its 35mm sibling, the extra few millimetres on this piece ensures that there is plenty of empty dial space to enjoy - all the better when your watch face looks this good.

Rounding up this elegant trio, the NOMOS Ludwig Neomatik 41 – 175 Years Watchmaking Glashütte has the added pleasure of a date window with Roman numerals – a debut feature for the brand.  This 40.5mm piece is powered by the NOMOS DUW 6101 calibre which places the date window right at the dial edge, adhering to the NOMOS ethos for neat, crisp design.

Notably, the calibres which power this collection have been adjusted according to chronometer standards, and each has been crafted to the NOMOS in-house Manufactory standards so you can expect meticulously engineered accuracy as well as exceptional craftsmanship throughout.

Each model in the NOMOS Ludwig - 175 Years Watchmaking Glashütte features a special engraving on the caseback to signifying its exclusivity, and each reveals its calibre through a sapphire crystal caseback.

All three models will be limited to 175 pieces each and they come presented on hard-wearing Horween Genuine Shell Cordovan black leather straps, secured to the wrist with NOMOS speciality winged clasps.
