Longines Avigation Mono-Pusher Chronograph Type A-7

The Longines Avigation Mono-Pusher Chronograph Type A-7 does not feature the "winged" logo on its dial, but in every sense it is the epitome of an aviator's watch, with its indications tilted to the right to enable instant reading during flying.

The piece has a generous case size of 49mm, with deep polished sides.  This is a watch which will simply refuse to slip beneath your cuff, rather the positioning of its sculpted crown and protruding pusher and those outsize squared lugs will announce to the world that you are wearing something rather special, quirky even.

Readability is paramount - matt black dial, white indications, large counters and a big date window slipped in to the small seconds dial.  But there are also subtleties to be admired, the central chronograph hand is elongated and eyelash-slim, it reaches right to the busyness of the tachymeter scale at the edge, and the extra dial space allows for a bounteous overhang.  A trim almost non-existent bezel adds to the impression of dial width.  Inside is the automatic Calibre 788 with column wheel chronograph function.

This has been a big year for Longines who have celebrated 180 years in the industry with a number of anniversary pieces.  The Longines Avigation Watch Type A-7, another superb mono-pusher chronograph is a worthy addition to the brand's Heritage Collection.
