Panerai Luminor 1950 10 Days GMT Taipei

Panerai present a new limiited edition watch - the Panerai Luminor 1950 10 Days GMT Taipei limited edtion watch. The piece celebrates the Taipei 101 building in Taiwan which until this year was the world's tallest building and where on the basement retail level, Panerai have a boutique.

This is an eye-pleasing addition to the Panerai collection - 44mm stainless steel case, on-trend brown tones, nicely proportioned large "12", "6" and "9" numerals, with the other smaller numerals in place of hour markers and the distinctive linear power reserve indicator just above the 6 o'clock.  A small date aperture is at 3 o'clock and at the 9 o'clock position is the combined small seconds and day/night indicator.  A tapering arrow-tipped hand marks the second-time zone.

Of course, all of the above receive the Panerai  luminescent treatment which evokes the "turning back of the cuff after dark" ritual among wearers of the brand around the world. Inside is Panerai's Calibre P2003 with extra generous power reserve of 10 days.  An engraving of the Taipei 100 building is featured on the back of the watch case.

Taking watch design inspiration from architecture is not a new phenomenon, earlier this year the highly acclaimied Jean Dunand Palace more than paid tribute to London's Crystal Palace and the Eiffel Tower......
