The Jaeger-LeCoultre Duomètre Unique Travel Time

Unfussy, elegant and readable, Jaeger-LeCoultre reinforce their superb Duomètre collection with a new, and limited edition piece, the Jaeger-LeCoultre Duomètre Unique Travel Time, designed to tell the time in two different world locations, and like last year's equally marvellous Master Geographic, it is a wristwatch which is truly reminiscent of a time when a lengthy journey was to be enjoyed not simply endured.

If the brand's CEO, Jérôme Lambert still feels like one of the industry’s head honchos at the moment, he has every right to be, his brand continue to get it oh-so-right and this one is a worthy addition to his recent highly acclaimed portfolio.

The Duomètre collection is characterised by, and named according to, it's one balance wheel/twin barrel construction.  One gives power to the time indications, the other to the complication, in this case a second time zone.

The silvered brass grained dial features an abundance of indications whilst remaining understated, slightly retro and uncluttered, thanks to some clever recessing - each indication commands its own dial space without the use of heavy-handed rimming or outline, it is subtle, but JLC have turned this type of detailing into an artform of late and have made it work right through their recent collections.

Between 2 and 3 o'clock is the home time indication, opposite which, on the left, is the second time zone dial with its jump hour indication (...this we like).  Of course, the eye is immediately drawn to the world map at 6 o'clock which turns and serves to indicate day and night, but there are other diminutive details to be enjoyed - an eyelash-slender elongated central hand with a more than generous overhang and twin barely-there power reserve indications which add balance and further interest to the lower "wings".

Presented in a 42mm white gold case with a satisfyingly rounded satin-brushed rim, this edition of the new Jaeger-LeCoultre Duomètre Unique Travel Time will be a limited edition of 100 pieces, in honour of the brand's new Parisian boutique.
